Great site. So good to know that mothers in Ireland are getting together and supporting each other. I hope to meet many of you in the near future. Keep looking after each other! Best wishes, Evelyn Robinson, author of "Adoption and Loss - The Hidden Grief" and "Adoption and Recovery - Solving the mystery of reunion".

There seems to be no message board of any sort to sign or to check in relation to searches........... I was born in Manchester to cork based parents in 1969, on the 23rd of September. Seemingly I had a brother who was adopted too. I was named Maxine by my Birth mother and she was a dental receptionist at the time. She was 26 years old. Please if you read this, I so want to meet you, life is too short to let a chance like this get away.......... I won't question why as I know how hard and cruel life can be............ Thank you

I really like your site, the comments of others and the articles you have posted very relevant. I was adopted in Dublin, I met my mother but she is married has children and is afraid to tell her husband so its hard to keep up contact, I havent heard from her in a few years and recently realised how awful I feel about this.I am trying to establish contact again but I also want to find out more about the home I was born in, Navan Road I think it was called St Josephs Convent but that could be wrong if anyone could tell what it was like there I would be very interested. Thank You.

I know that at least one of the Mathairailers has lived in Canada and wondered if she'd come across writings by someone from York University called Anne Marie Ambert. When I read her writings on adoption I was appalled at her stigmatisation of natural families (she calls us genetic mothers). She provided the academic ammunition which the Privacy Commissioner was using to try to impose an Information Veto as part of a forthcoming Bill in Ontario. Luckily it looks like she hasn't won her fight!

Hi, I wanted to share some good news for those who have posted here in their search. 10 years ago my birth mother and I had contact by letter and meetings arranged, she wasn't able to follow through on those meetings. I tried again last month in the hope that her mind might have changed - and it had! We will meet on November 14th and it looks like it will actually happen this time! And, to top that off, I met my half sister, also adopted, 7 years ago and we have become closer than either of us could have imagined. It can and does happen, it's scary, wonderful, liberating and a million other emotions wrapped up. Have courage and be open to whatever happens is the small piece of advice I'd like to offer.
